In June 2023, I spent two weeks in beautiful Costa Rica! The wellness tour included time in San José, La Fortuna, Guanacaste, and Playa Carillo. Between the hot springs, yoga, wild life sightings, coffee, and chocolate, I could not think of a better way to recharge prior to starting post-doctoral training.
Since starting residency, while attempting to balance in-school and out-of-school life, I've been able to travel internationally to celebrate weddings of some wonderful friends in both Spain and the Maldives.
The third oldest of seven children, I grew up in the Metro Detroit region of Michigan. I became an aunt and godmother in 2023 and now have three nephews and nieces that are just the best. I enjoy traveling, crafting, music and podcasts, games, baking, reading, walking and hiking, being cozy, and spending time with friends and family.
The last ten years have held many changes, moves, and transitions. From the Midwest to the West Coast, then Southwest, the Upland South and soon, back to where it all began. Through it all, my constants have been dentistry, cats, plants, and my yoga practice.
Caring for my patients, pets, and plants helps me to do the same for myself. The daily ritual of care for self and others keeps me mindfully aware that growth is life-long and allows me to find joy in the process. In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, "you learn by living."
Having a yoga practice has improved my life in many ways, personally and professionally. The physical movement helps balance musculoskeletal strain brought on by dentistry. The ebb and flow of its progression has illuminated and transformed my (a retired theatre kid with no team sports experience) conceptualization of what it means to have a "practice". Yoga helps me find balance and comfort at work, at home, and in my body and mind.
Current hobbies include: keeping bird feeder filled for the cats, cloud gazing, and waffling between donating all of my clothes and going with a capsule wardrobe or curating a collection of lewks for every occasion.
I love parks!
State parks, national parks, local parks, state historic parks, you name it, I want to go there and read all of the signs. Many of my favorite memories are those of visiting parks with friends and family for picnics, strolls, hikes, tours, or to camp!
Now that residency has nudged me into investing in a nice camera set up (hi, Canon, sponsor me), I look forward to a higher resolution of documentation of these adventures. In the mean time, here are some fun pictures of park visits and hikes from the past few years!
